Windy Hill Road Residence
 

Located in Washington DC, United States, this residential garden design was the second project designed for a client based outside of Canada.

The primary challenge of the design was the a existing steep slope across the garden.

Additionally, the client expressed the need for flat areas to accommodate various programming elements, including a gathering space, gardening area, and a viewpoint.

Cost-effectiveness(by minimizing the number of walls and use of local materials) and easy maintenance were crucial considerations. To respond to these challenges, the final design incorporated terraced landscaping to divide the garden into flat, functional zones while minimizing the use of walls and proposing native plant species.
